Thanksgiving Redemption
This past weekend, the Jumbos followed up yet another disappointing performance against Springfield College with a strong overall effort in a rematch against Roger Williams University on Saturday. The previous weekend, Tufts had come back against Roger Williams only to lose on an unlucky bounce with less than a minute to go in regulation. Determined to win this time, the Jumbos game out flying and potted three in the first, with the trio of Grant Zyskowski, Jimmy Fuoroli and Seth Hurwitz leading the way offensively. A strong second by Roger Williams pulled them to within one, and the teams went into the third with Tufts having a 4-3 lead. Despite peppering the Roger Williams goalie in the third, Tufts could not break through with the insurance goal, and Roger Williams tied the game with 11:50 to go. Afraid of having the same fate befall them, the Jumbos redoubled their efforts, but the game ultimately went into overtime. Finally, with 3:35 left in the overtime period, Tomo Yokose took a beautiful pass from Christian Herbosa on a 2 on 1, and converted a fluttering shot that skipped over the goalie's right shoulder for the win. This win was a long time coming for the Jumbos, who struggled for much of November. Next, Tufts looks to build on this win in their back to back series against the University of New Haven on the weekend of Dec. 4 to close out the semester.
